"Put yourself aside and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand."

Philippians 2:3-4 (The Message)

Riverview Community Services seek to assist people through education, advocacy and support; by lending a helping hand to those experiencing disadvantage, yet committed to moving forward in life.

Our initiatives offer practical skills for living that will enable individuals to move through experiences and pain in their past, and move on to enjoy a new way of living life. Our current programmes include:

  • Signposts - an information referral and advocacy service, incorporating emergency relief funding to assist people experiencing a sudden unexpected change in circumstances. This service operates on person centred model, offering a hand up to those in need, advocacy and support to make the changes to help their circumstances.
  • Practical help - a team of willing helpers able to offer practical assistance to people in the community.
  • Community engagement - we desire to be fully engaged with our community and in sync with the needs and changes within our area. We continue to work with local government, local members of parliament, and other network agencies to ensure that the services we provide to our community meet the needs of it!
  • Car Programme - exists to help people who need a hand up to be the best that they can be! The programme gifts small inexpensive cars to people who can show their ability to manage the costs of maintaining the vehicle. This allows those people to better seek employment, attend hospital appointments, and enjoy other benefits of the independence having the car brings.
  • Community Visitors Scheme - oversees a team of fabulous volunteers who visit socially isolated people living in aged care facilities. These volunteers literally bring the outside world to these people, and brighten the lives of our precious seniors.
  • Tree of Hope - our annual Christmas gift giving project impacting over 2500 children and families through other agencies and programmes to assist people who ordinarily fall through the gaps of traditional welfare: families of victims of homicide, of suicide and who have experienced sudden and catastrophic injuries, as well as aged people, and facilities housing children unwanted, or unable to be cared for by the foster system.

Donations are received from both the Church and local community, with in-kind support and discount arrangements from the business world, God truly blesses the project each year, and allows us to impact over 2000 children and their families each year.

  • Counselling - professional, tailored counselling support for your life.
