get involved

“Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
Mark 4:25 [The Message]

think, pray, and enjoy giving generously

“I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.”
2 Corinthians 9:7 [The Message]

This verse says that God receives a great amount of pleasure when He sees us enjoying giving, as opposed to giving out of a sense of recklessness, compulsion, obligation, guilt or arm-twisting. However, a key to enjoying giving is found in the previous words, 'each of you take plenty of time to think it over and make up your own mind what you will give.'

When it comes to the area of giving our monies for a great cause, it is vital to take the time to organise, plan and budget what we do desire to give. In engaging our mind to carefully consider what we can regularly give to the Riverview Trust, we can then proceed surely, allowing our heart to fully engage.

Give time to think through and plan what you desire to give to the Riverview Trust. Give time to take your plan to God by praying, talking to God, and trusting Him in your endeavour. And then enjoy and engage your heart in giving. We are all in this together!

Our heart is that all who call Riverview Church their home are involved in the Trust. We often use the phrase, 'all of us play a part in seeing the vision fulfilled through our commitment, our sacrifice, our prayer and our service', so we are thrilled to see hundreds of individuals and households participating. Our giving is an act of worship, gratitude and acknowledgement but it is also the means by which ministry can be provided to those beyond us.

consider

Here are some steps (or ideas) to consider before you become involved in the Trust:

Prayerfully consider your contribution to the Riverview Trust so together we can make room for more people. Ask God what he wants you to give.

Exercise wisdom and financial budgeting as your basis.

Make a sacrifice; give up something you love for something you love even more. God doesn't expect everyone to give the same amount - it's the sacrifice and heart attitude He looks at.

action!

Mark Twain said, 'The secret of getting ahead is getting started.' Once you have carefully considered your involvement in the Riverview Trust, then all that is necessary is for you to begin.

Step out in faith. Be courageous and see God's provision for you. Giving by faith happens when we decide to give an amount that will require God's help to fulfil.

Commence your giving through a variety of methods at any point during the financial year. Some people contribute weekly, some fortnightly, some monthly, some annually, and some always on our Miracle Offering Weekend (the last weekend of the financial year): it is up to you.

financial leaders

In the area of giving, as with every key ministry at Riverview, we identify those people who demonstrate leadership and work with them to develop their calling.

Our Financial Leaders are those who have the wherewithal, passion and courage to give $5000 or more to the Riverview Trust in a financial year, over and above their first 10% giving. We gather our financial leaders together regularly to thank them, inspire them, encourage them and receive feedback from them so they can continue to serve God with their gifts. People become Financial Leaders as a result of giving in the previous financial year, or by indicating to us their commitment to become a Financial Leader in the present financial year.
