Welcome to the June edition of South News! 

Well, we are only 10 days away from our Winter Big Weekend, which promises to be a wonderful time of enrichment, input and corporate worship.  June also features our South Volunteers Nite, the Miracle Offering weekend, Hertime Days at Cockburn Central Campus, and the Mercy Ministries Ball.

The celebrations continue into July, with our second South Social planned for Friday July 27th.  Details will be available next edition, so in the meantime, mark this date in your diary and get ready for a wonderful time of feasting, fellowship and festivities!  But for now, here’s what’s happening in June!

Our winter Big Weekend is designed to make your INNER world BIGGER because life is lived from the inside out!  Take advantage of this incredible weekend to be inspired, grow in your capacity and enrich your relationship with God.  Come and hear from special guests Mark and Darlene Zschech, Andre Olivier and Alun Davies.  Check the Big Weekend flyer (available at South Service) for speaker schedule, children’s programmes, and session times or go to www.riverviewchurch.com.au for more details.

We are delighted to announce that Andre Olivier will be speaking live at our 10am Service on Sunday 17 June. André is the Senior Pastor of the fast growing, dynamic Rivers Church in South Africa. He has a passion for leadership development and is the author of several books: The Best A Man Can Get, Successive Breakthroughs and Finding a Way to Win. André and his wife Wilma are totally committed to the expansion and development of God’s church and we look forward to hosting Andre at the Cockburn Central Campus.

For all of our hardworking, enthusiastic volunteers and leaders at South, we are hosting a South Volunteers’ Evening on Wednesday 20 June.  The night commences with dinner at 7pm, kindly supplied by Nick and Belinda Beard from Subway Gateways.

The Volunteers Evening is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible men and women who dedicate themselves to making our Cockburn Central Campus function, serving the needs of our community through the various teams and roles they represent.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Adam and Dale Meredith to our South Pastoral team.  Adam and Dale have come on board as Assistant Campus Pastors providing a supporting role to Aly and Marcus in the leadership, pastoral, administrative and operational requirements of the Cockburn Central Campus.

Adam and Dale have been on staff at Riverview for many years (Adam as Media Director and Dale as our Accountant) and are founding members of the Cockburn Central Campus. We know they will make a huge contribution to the pastoral care network at Cockburn Central.  Be sure to say hello to them on Sunday and join us in congratulating them both on this new appointment!

The next Hertime Days will be held at the Cockburn Central Campus on Thursday 14 June.  Alyson Passauer will be speaking on "Girlfriendships".  Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to invite your friends – a great follow up for those of you who brought guests to our recent Hertime Occasion.  Arrive at 10.00am (9.45am if you have children to place in the children’s areas) for morning tea, and we finish at 11.45am. There is a $7.00 cover charge.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Our annual Miracle Offering weekend will take place on June 23 & 24.  The purpose of this weekend is to give an opportunity to all to finalise our commitments to the Riverview Trust or to give a once-off gift.  Let’s finish the year strong as we aim to meet our $1,500,000 target.

You and your guests are invited to attend the Annual Mercy Ministries Perth Ball to be held on Thursday 28 June 2007 at The Astral, Burswood Entertainment Complex, Burswood.  The evening features a host of special guests as well as a pre-launch performance by Paul Morrison & band and a special appearance by one of Australia’s leading musicians.  Tickets are $150 per head (Tables of 10).  For more information or to purchase tickets please phone 9416 0080 or go online to www.riverviewchurch.com/events

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in being part of our South Social Events Team.  This team will help organise key social functions at our Campus each quarter.  If you love organising get-togethers or networking with other people, or just think this sounds like fun, then we would love you to be involved!  Please contact Alyson Passauer at the church office on 94160194 or alternatively, email alysonp@riverviewchurch.com.au to register your interest.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to serve in our South Bookstore on Sundays. If you would like to be involved in this area, please contact Aron Elliott, Manager of Riverview Bookstore at the church office on 9416 0000 or email arone@riverviewchurch.com.au or alternatively, register your interest with our friendly bookstore assistants on Sunday.   No experience necessary!
