September brings a new season at Cockburn Central with lots to look forward to…here’s a taste of things to come!

Our next South Baby Dedication will be held on Sunday 9 September during our 10am service.  Our Baby Dedications are significant occasions in the life of our church, undergirding our commitment to the role of spiritual partnership with parents as they raise their children in faith. 

If you would like to register your child or children to be dedicated, please contact our Weekend Services Coordinator, Hayley Przybula at the church office on 9416 0000, email hayleyp@riverviewchurch.com.au or alternatively complete a registration form this Sunday at the Info Desk.  Once you have registered your child, you will receive a confirmation pack with further details from Hayley.

On Monday 10 September, Koorong Bookstores present Philip Yancey live at Riverview’s Burswood Auditorium at 7:30pm.  Philip Yancey is one of the most respected Christian authors of today and will be presenting on the topic of ‘Prayer.’  Tickets are available from Koorong Bookstore.  For further information, please go to the link at http://www.koorong.com/yancey and plan to be at this very special evening.

The Perth BBLB event will be held at the Burswood Grand Ballroom on Thursday 13 September from 7:25am.  The topic is Extreme Leadership II.
Following on from the enormously popular presentation, Extreme Leadership, this second installment will inspire, challenge, and motivate. Drawing from real stories, from real people in unreal circumstances, Phil Baker explores the leadership lessons we can learn from the extraordinary leadership displayed in ordinary people. If you would like to accelerate your spiritual growth then our mid-week training course - Accelerate - is for you. Each Thursday evening, Accelerate is held at the Cockburn Central Campus.  Sessions run from 7.30-9.00pm with a short refreshment break included. Topics for September’s theme, ‘Meat’ include:  Jesus and Scripture, The Nature of Scripture, Jesus: The Focus of Scripture, and Interpreting Scripture. Your presenters, Haydn Nelson, Alan Browne and Graham Irvine look forward to seeing you there.

Please note: that Accelerate will not be held on Thursday 13 September at the Cockburn Central Campus as all Accelerate classes will be suspended this week and all participants are invited to attend the Philip Yancey seminar on Prayer which will be held at the Burswood Campus on Monday 10 September from 7:30pm.

Our first anniversary service will be held on Sunday 21 October from 10am.  The official farewell to Marcus and Alyson Passauer and commissioning of Adam and Dale Meredith as our new Lead Pastors will also take place on this day during our 10am service. 

We would love to see you all there for the service and also for our much anticipated ‘birthday party’ which will be held immediately after the service.  Please put this date in your calendar and plan to be there to join the festivities and say your farewells. Details of our birthday party will be announced in coming weeks.

We are currently in need of enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to serve at our Information Desk at the Cockburn Central Campus.  The persons will need to be available before and after Sunday services on a rostered basis.  No experience necessary and training will be given by supervising staff.  For more details or to register your interest please do not hesitate to contact Dale Meredith at the church office on 9416 0000 or email dalem@riverviewchurch.com.au for further details.  Alternatively, come and see Dale in the Lounge on Sunday after the service.
