Well the clocks have all been wound forward one hour and summer is fast approaching. Can you believe that it is November already? Our 1st birthday celebrations went off with a bang. It was a day of mixed emotions with the farewell to Marcus and Alyson coupled with the celebration of the 1st birthday. A huge thankyou to all of you who helped out on the day.

The theme at Riverview this month is Character from the book of Philippians so be prepared to receive some great teaching from our amazing Teaching Team. Let’s take a look at what else is happening this month…

One of the highlights of our Church calendar is the Summer ‘Big Weekend’. This year the Big Weekend will be held from Friday 9 Nov to Sunday 11 November. Extra services will be held over this weekend and we encourage you to plan to be at as many sessions as you can as our special guests Erwin McManus (USA) and Wayne Alcorn (QLD) inspire, encourage and edify. Last year’s Summer Big Weekend was an incredible time of ministry, reflection, corporate worship and community, so be sure to bring your family and friends and join us for this one. As part of the Big Weekend we will have Philip Baker speaking live with us on the Sunday morning. As much as we love the video cast messages it will be great to have Phil in the flesh with us again. Invite as many people as you can as it’s sure to be a great morning.

Join hundreds of women for a grand evening bursting with energy and feeling as we look at Bridget Jone’s Guide to Aging. It will be an encounter of people, music and words so invite your friends. Join us on Wednesday November 28 or Thursday November 29 at 7:00pm for food, drinks and music (‘Peace Love and all that Stuff’ with Tod Johnston). The full programme begins at 7:30pm and will conclude at around 9:15pm with a light supper. Tickets are $20 each available from Riverview 1300-797-027 or on-line.

Don’t forget we have Accelerate on every Thursday at the Cockburn Campus. This week Penny will be teaching on Relating as a Family. These nights are a great way to receive in-depth teaching that relates to the theme of the month and also a great way to meet people within the life of Riverview.

As lovely as our building is there are still some areas that could do with a little TLC. So if you have a couple of hours to spare we would love to see you there. We will send out more details closer to the day.

Things are moving in the right direction and hopefully it won’t be too many more weeks before we are operating with full power. There is also an opportunity that has opened up which may help our parking situation and we will keep you updated on how that progresses. While we are on the subject of parking, can we just say what a brilliant job all of our Service Team volunteers do, ushers and greeters included. The job these volunteers do is vital to the smooth running of our services so if this is an area that you feel you could help out in then please visit the lounge and pop your name down. We are always looking for more willing volunteers in this area, so if that’s you, don’t be shy!!!

The next Connect Mix will be held at Burswood on the 21st. These mixes are great for both Leaders of Connect Groups who are looking for new people or if you aren’t currently involved in a group to find a group that suits you. So if you fall into either of those categories then mark this date in your diary. It’s a fun, casual evening and a brilliant way to get to know people or to grow your group. This isn’t just a night for people who live locally to Burswood, as there will be leaders from groups in our Southern suburbs attending.

The last Mix we had at Cockburn exceeded all expectations. Before we run another Mix at our campus we need to get an idea of how many people there are who are looking to get connected into a Connect Group. If you are looking to get involved in a Connect Group and would be interested in attending a mix then please email me at dalem@riverviewchurch.com.au with your details.

We have an amazing team of prayer warriors at our Cockburn Central Campus. These men and women are sensitive, mature and gifted intercessors that will gladly pray with you for any need or issue you are experiencing. The Prayer Team is located in the Lounge immediately after the service on Sunday mornings. You can also present prayer requests by completing a Prayer Request Card at the Info Desk or Lounge. These cards will be forwarded to our Prayer Team. Alternatively, you can email any prayer requests you might have to Dale Meredith (dalem@riverviewchurch.com.au) and she will forward these on to the Prayer Team. We really love to hear testimonies of answered prayer so make sure you pass these on also by email, in person, or by completing a Praise Report Card on Sundays at the Info Desk.
