Riverview Cockburn Central - December 2007
Welcome to the December edition of Cockburn Central News!
Has anyone else noticed the green transformer boxes at the front of our driveway? While Western Power has yet to complete the job we’re hoping that December is the month that Cockburn Central gets powered up…finally! I can smell the coffee and the chips already. Hope all your plans for Christmas are coming together.
We are off on our annual family pilgrimage to Busselton on the 5th. That means we won’t be with you on the 9th but will be leaving you in the capable hands of Neil Chisholm. It’s going to be a brilliant month in the lead up to Christmas so let’s take a look at what’s happening in December at Riverview Cockburn Central…
THAILAND IMPACT TRIP: 4th – 18th December
Our prayers and best wishes go with Jen, Erin, Allen and Adrian as they set off on the Thailand Impact Trip. We are looking forward to your safe return and hearing of all of your stories from the field.
MINCE PIE MADNESS: 21st December @ 10:30am
This one is for all the women in the house. On the Friday before Christmas we are going to get together and bake our little hearts out. The plan is to whip up about 300 fruit mince pies to hand out on Christmas morning. So if you can make it, and we would love to have as many of you there as possible, send me an email (dalem@riverviewchurch.com.au) or give me a call (9416 0037) and let me know.
CHRISTMAS @ RIVERVIEW
Christmas at Riverview this year is going to be brilliant. Make sure you grab a few of our Christmas postcards for yourself and for your family and friends. On the back of these postcards are the dates and times for the Christmas Production and our Christmas services. From what I’ve heard the Christmas production this year is our best ever so make sure you invite as many people as possible.
CONNECT GROUP MIX @ COCKBURN
We will be holding another Connect Group Mix in January. If you are looking to get connected into a Connect Group or you are looking for more people for your Connect Group then this is for you. Please let me know if you are interested as we can only run these once we have enough people attending – dalem@riverviewchurch.com.au.
BUSY BEE
A big, huge thankyou to those of you who helped out with the busy bee on the 3rd. The car park area is looking schmick with the new painted lines, the plants, the removal of the very sad looking flag pools and the new home for our bins. The children’s areas also received some much-needed TLC.
JANUARY SOCIAL EVENT
We will be having a family social event in January. The details are yet to be finalised but as soon as they are we will let you know.
FACEDOWN STATIONS DURING WORSHIP
For next period of time we will be having Facedown stations operating during worship. These stations are Communion, Prayer Rocks and Anointing with Oil. The Prayer Rock station is specifically for writing the names of those people in our worlds that we are praying for and want to see come to Christ. If you would like prayer for healing (emotionally, physically, relationally...) then you can come down during worship and be anointed with oil and receive prayer. These times have so far been great as we can actively particate in worship. I would encourage you to be apart of this, as together we believe God for great things.
BAPTISM
On the last Sunday in December we will be doing baptisms. If have not yet been baptised and feel you are ready to make a public declaration of your commitment to Christ then please let us know.
PRAYER POINTS
If prayer is your thing, and let’s face it, as Christians, prayer should be all our thing, then here’s some things to pray for in regards to our Cockburn Campus.
· That Cockburn would be a place of salvation, healing and restoration
· That we would have a positive impact on the surrounding community
· For answers to our parking and building issues
· For leaders and volunteers

ON A PERSONAL NOTE…
It has now been about 6 weeks since the handover from Marcus and Aly to ourselves. Adam and I really want to thank all of you for your prayers and words of encouragement over that time. We are loving our new role as Lead Pastors and a big part of that is getting to do it with such a brilliant bunch of people. We are constantly bragging to the other campuses about what a great bunch of people we have at Cockburn. We couldn’t do it without you and we love you heaps. Thankyou!!!!
