I think I'm in a bit of denial. I can't believe that it's May already. Maybe that explains why the E-letter is a little late in getting to you. My sincerest apologies for that. The theme for this month at Riverview is The Hand of God - Providence and Promise. But before we get all serious on that topic we will be kicking off the month with a Mother's Day celebration. The message for this weekend has been entitled Julie Andrews Guide to Kindness and there will be some extra special treats for all of the mum's on Sunday morning. Let's take a look at what else is going on around Cockburn this month.

Starts this Thursday! If you haven't already registered then drop me a line or just come along. We will kick off at 7:30pm this Thursday and will run every Thursday for 4 weeks. If you would like to start a Connect Group or if you are currently running a Connect Group and would like to brush up on your leadership skills then we would love to have you. Our Volunteers Vision Night is Wednesday 14 May. If you volunteer in any capacity at Cockburn, or if you are thinking about getting involved, then we want you there. The night will kick off at 7pm with dinner (something Italian I think) followed by an evening of vision, inspiration and direction. All aboard! Come and enjoy Sunday afternoon with us down at the Mandurah foreshore! You can bring a rug and sit and have a picnic, have lunch at Dome or Cicerello's, go to the movies, browse the antique shop or grab an ice-cream from Simmo's. Whatever you choose to do, the idea is to do it with someone else, and get to know some new people. We will be 'rendezvousing' at the Cockburn Central Station at 12pm, immediately after the service. The cost for the train fare is $6 per family and $2 for individuals. This is a group rate so you will need to register and pay at the Info Desk this Sunday.

PLEASE JOIN US - It is an amazing privilege to build into these little lives, teaching them God's word and Biblical Principals in a Fun, Interactive and Safe environment. Our kids at Cockburn Central are our next generation and we would like to challenge you, Mum's/Dad's, Grandparents, Aunties/Uncles and Youth to join our great team and allow God to work through you in showing Jesus to our kids. If you are interested or ready for the challenge please talk to me on Sunday, and I will walk you through the process of becoming a volunteer. Orientations will be held once a month her at Cockburn Central, and we would love for you to join us. Finally, to all our wonderful KidzChurch Volunteers, A HUGE THANKYOU from me to you. I know it's early and the mornings are getting darker and colder but can I encourage you to come along to our Wednesday morning prayer meeting. It's a great way to not only meet some amazing people but also and more importantly to meet with God. We really want Cockburn Central to be a house of prayer, so make a decision.

We really want to start focusing on and building our Youth program here at Cockburn Central. If your in high school and you want to attend our Friday night youth activities please let Adam know. Or if you are keen to lead an Alliance Group (Youth Connect Group) or you are happy to open up your home for an Alliance Group to meet at, then please contact Adam (adamm@riverviewchurch.com).

As some of you are already aware there has been a bit of a change to the way Accelerate is run. Instead of every month, Accelerate will now run bi-monthly. It will still follow the theme of the month and Hayden, Graham and me (Dale) will be teaching the sessions but it will now run every second month. So for the rest of the year Accelerate will run in May, July, September and November. Having said that, we really would like to make Thursday nights at Cockburn something special, kind of like a discipleship night, where a few different things are running, like connect group leader training, new peoples nights, ignite, the cafe will be open, and of course - accelerate. Thursday nights will hopefully become a great time to be at Riverview Cockburn Central.

If you are new to Riverview and you would like to find out more about how we run and what we believe then we will be running a New People's Night on Thursday the 5th June starting at 7:30pm. This is the first new peoples night we have run at Cockburn Central, so even if your not so new, and you want to become a partner, this night is for you. Not just a once off! In the very near future we will be having Subway available every week. There will be a selection of Subway rolls available and you will be able to text, via your mobile phone, your order each Sunday morning before 10:30am and your order will be ready to pick up from the Cafe after the service. Coffee is in the air!!! Real coffee that is. We have a brand spanking new coffee machine that is being installed as I sit here and type. It should be up and running very soon. If you fancy yourself as a budding Barista then send a note to Hilary Elliott (hillary.elliott@riverviewchurch.com).

In the months where Accelerate isn't running, we will be running Ignite. Ignite is a brilliant course that covers the fundamentals of what it is to be a Christian. If you feel as though your Christian walk could do with a boost, if you're a new Christian or if you feel as though you need a better understanding of the basics of Christianity then this course is for you. Congratulations to Nathan and Julie Hearne on the birth of their 5th (yes I said 5th) child. Happy Mother's Day to all of the well deserving mum's out there.
