Wednesdays are now our day for working from Cockburn. Even though we don’t have proper offices here yet it is such a peaceful, quiet place to work and now that the coffee machine is up and running it really couldn’t get much better. If ever you happen to be driving past on a Wednesday feel free to pop in and say hi.

I have to say the highlight of last month for me was the train trip to Mandurah. Could the weather have been any more perfect? Not ones to rest on our laurels however we have a busy month ahead so let’s take a look at what else is going on around Cockburn this month…

If you have a Y chromosome and you are over 12 years of age then we are calling you to enlist for World Series Paintball on the 28th June. The cost is $50 and the day will start with a BBQ lunch at 12:30pm at World Series Paint Ball in Baldivis. The cost covers your equipment, first 200 rounds and lunch. To register and pay, go back to the Info Desk after the service. There are only 20 places available so get in quick.

While the menfolk are off shooting each other we are going to run a chick flick at the Cockburn Campus. $5 will get you afternoon tea, a movie and we will have some child minding facilities available. The date will be the 28th June starting around 12:30pm. Invite your friends and register at the Info Desk on Sunday.

We will be holding baptisms during the service on the 29th June. If you would like to get baptised or find out more about getting baptised then please go back to the Lounge and talk to one of our volunteers. We would love to have as many of you register as possible but the morning will be open to anyone who wants to get baptised on the day.

This month as we teach the children about money and being a good steward of money we have set a challenge for the children in Little Peoples and PrimaryZone. Can all parents please read the back of the Parents Update for each of these rooms and then talk to your children about how they can contribute. Thankyou for all your support, We are going to see great things happen through our kids at Cockburn this month.

I know it’s early and the mornings are getting darker and colder but can I encourage you to come along to our Wednesday morning prayer meeting. It’s a great way to not only meet some amazing people but also and more importantly to meet with God and you can now buy a really good coffee when we’re done.

Our Friday night youth program is now well underway. We have some great youth leaders who are volunteering their time to drive the kids from Cockburn to Burswood every Friday night. If you want to help and get involved, or if you want to register your teenagers to attend then contact Adam (adamm@riverviewchurch.com).

As some of you are already aware there has been a bit of a change to the way Accelerate is run. Instead of every month, Accelerate will now run bi-monthly. It will still follow the theme of the month and Hayden and Graham will still be teaching some of the sessions but it will now run every second month. So for the rest of the year Accelerate will run in May, July, September and November.

In the months where Accelerate isn’t running, we will be running Ignite. Ignite is a brilliant course that covers the fundamentals of what it is to be a Christian. If you feel as though your Christian walk could do with a boost, if you’re a new Christian or if you feel as though you need a better understanding of the basics of Christianity then this course is for you. If you are new to Riverview and you would like to find out more about how we run and what we believe then we will be running a New People's Night on Thursday the 5th June starting at 7:30pm. Many of you would have already heard Adam’s vision for Thursday nights. Whether it is Accelerate, Ignite, Connect Group Leaders Training or New People’s Night there will be something happening here on a Thursday night. As part of this we now have dinner available to purchase from the café from 7pm for $5. Even if you’re not involved in any of the program feel free to drop in for a coffee or a bite to eat.

Congratulations to the Leeming family on the birth of their 4th child James D’arcy.  Also happy 40th wedding anniversary to Elwyn and Rhona Goodwin.
